Approximately pages of text will be covered per lecture. Soon after each lecture, students should re-read those sections and compare the text to their lecture notes. At the time of this second reading, the in-chapter problems should be worked. Homework problems in Wade are given both within each chapter boxed in blue and at the end of each chapter.
Each student should work all of the in-chapter problems and as many of the end-of-chapter problems as time permits all if possible.
Selected end-of-chapter problems may be assigned in class, but you should focus on problems that give you trouble. You should also make every attempt to write an electron curved arrow pushing mechanism for each new class of reactions.
Homework will not be collected: To use the study guide answer to a problem you are working on as an aid to solving that problem is not beneficial.
Once you learn the concepts behind the problems, you will be able to solve many problems that you have never seen before. It is interesting to note that the most common advice given to students in this course by former students on course evaluations is to work as many homework problems as possible.
It is possible that selected homework problems will be duplicated on the exams. The quantity of material to be learned in Chemistry is too large to permit all of it to be covered in the lectures.

The lectures will focus on the key ideas and on those parts of the material that the lecturer judges to most be in need of emphasis or explanation. However, you are responsible for all of the material in all of the chapters covered unless otherwise instructed.
