Treadright Foundation Why We Celebrate World Water Day World Water Day is an international observance and an opportunity to learn more about water related issues, be inspired to tell others and take action to make a difference. World Water Day dates back to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development where an international observance for water was recommended. It has been held annually since then.
Ever since this declaration, Environmental Health Practitioners and other public members around the world have been celebrating this day in different ways. Environmental Health Practitioners throughout Limpopo province embarked on joint operation conducting inspections in food premises during September month as a way of commemorating World Environmental Health Days!
The theme is global food safety and sustainability. The event will take form of a road show were public education stalls will be managed by environmental health officers on different aspects of environmental health to educate and disseminate information on services provided by environmental health departments throughout the country.
Food safety stall will take a center stage and will dominate larger portion of the event so that the theme for this year is well-conceived and understood.
The event will provide a platform for members of the public to interact with environmental health officers on an informal basis to get feedback and exchange views, opinions and ideas to improve service delivery.
Her speech centered around the global theme as pronounced by the President of International Federation of Environmental Health.
The occasion was held as road show and open day at a public open space, the event was attended by over people, which included the civic, community leaders, members of the public, Environmental Health Officers from local authorities as well as from central government ministries.
Environmental health officers from various district councils managed stall on food safety, which was the main focus of the celebration.
There were other public education stalls on different aspects of environmental health. The civic leaders, invited guests and the general public were taken on a guided tour to educate them on services provided by environmental health officers to brand, market and disseminate information of environmental health.
